2022 US Open – Match Winners vs Losers

Every week, Tennis Analytics dives deep into the data, bringing you a stat of the week to help you understand tennis better and become a little smarter.

For this week, we have a recap of the major statistics for the 2022 US Open, separating Match Winners’ from Match Losers’ data.

Match Winners in the Men’s draw won 7 of every 10 points at the net (71%).  The Women were not far behind at 68%.  Match losers too performed well at the net, Men won 63%, Women won 64%.

Other interesting stats:
🎾 On the Men’s side, match losers won just 46% of 2nd Serve points, 8% less than their victors.
🎾 On the Women’s side, the 2nd Serve was a liability.  Match winners won 49%, which was 7%
better than their opponents (42%)
🎾 On average, the match winner wins just over half of all points played (Men 54%, Women 55%)

Going to the net is a great idea, regardless of your style of play. Even match losers do well.  The best way to get better?
Trial by Fire 🔥🔥.
