Stat of the Week | September 30, 2020

Every week, Tennis Analytics dives deep into the data, bringing you a stat of the week to help you understand tennis better and become a little smarter.

Stat of the Week: 80%

We have heard this before… most points in tennis (at all levels) end within 4 shots.

No argument there, we have all the data.

For the Big 3, over 80% of points are over within 8 shots.

Which players are best at each rally length?

  • Federer is the King of the short rally.
  • Rafa dominates at longer rallies.
  • Djokovic is right in the middle.

Point of the Week

It is very rare that a player loses the 1 to 4 battle (short points) and still wins the match.

This is why working on your serve, return, serve +1, and return +1 is the most valuable thing you can do with your practice time.

Are you aware of your own rally length spread in matches? Are you winning enough of the shorter rallies? Or do you shine in the less important longer rallies?

Send us your match video and we’ll show you. Purchase a player package today!
