When do most Girls 14 Errors occur?

Every week, Tennis Analytics dives deep into the data, bringing you a stat of the week to help you understand tennis better and become a little smarter.

We looked at over 8,000 points from the last 3 Junior Orange Bowl events (2020, 2021, 2022) to get a better idea of how and when points end at the different rally lengths.

At the G14 level, 18% of all points ended in an Error at both the 1-2 rally length and also at the 3-4 rally length.  So, 36% of all points ended in an error within 4 shots.  More errors occur on the return than on any other single stroke, outnumbering return winners by more than 6 to 1.

On the Serve side, 1 in every 6.5 2nd Serves hit was a Double Fault.  Double faults outnumber Aces by 12:1.

Arguably, the return is the most important shot in the game.  The server starts the point and has the option of pace, spin and placement.  And they get 2 chances.  The returner only has one shot.

So, knowing your return stats is a key element to improving your game.
