June is serving month!
Every Wednesday this month, we’ll be releasing new data on the serve.
Stat of the Week: 59%
Where should we be hitting our 2nd serves? When we ask that question, here are some of the answers we get.
- To the backhand since it’s the opponent’s weakness.
- To the forehand, so that we are more likely to get an S+1 forehand.
- Variety is key on the 2nd serve.
Here’s what the data shows.
On the men’s side, the server wins 59% of points when they hit 2nd serves wide on the deuce side.
It’s the highest win percentage of any location on the second serves.
