Why is Enzo Couacad famous?

Frenchman Enzo Couacad is a famous guy this week. He is the only player to take a set off Novak Djokovic at the 2023 Australian Open (in a close tiebreaker). He then lost 12 of the next 14 games and headed to the airport.

After that, Djokovic never lost another set. He embarrassed the field to reclaim the #1 ATP ranking and more importantly, equal Rafa’s record of 22 Grand Slams won. And there are still 3 more Slams in 2023.

Novak played a total of 201 games over 7 matches at the 2023 AO. He won 68% of these (136). Total prize money was a cool $1,998,278, which means that he earned $14,693.22 for each game won.

Everything on court boils down to winners and errors. Novak hit 4% more winners than his opponents and made 12% fewer errors, for a total differential of 16%.
